The US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control extended the operating licence for Serbia's NIS oil company through 30 October. Serbia's mining and energy ministry said the decision allows NIS and the Pančevo refinery to continue operating at maximum output. [1]
The licence covers refining, crude imports, supply-related transactions, technical maintenance and financial settlements, NIS told SeeNews. Hungary's MOL also received US approval to continue negotiations to acquire the Russian-held majority stake during the same period. [2]
ContextThe extension postpones the immediate operational effect of US sanctions but does not complete the ownership transfer. Gazprom Neft holds 44.85% and a Gazprom-controlled company holds another 11.3%, while Serbia owns 29.87%. [2]
