Montenegro's Finance Ministry and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed a €50 million loan agreement to reconstruct and modernise 39 kilometres of railway between Golubovci and Bar. The route connects the Port of Bar with Montenegro's inland network and onward links toward Serbia. [1] [2]
The wider financing package exceeds €225 million and includes €112.6 million in EU grants and a €63 million European Investment Bank loan. Planned work covers track rehabilitation, three stations, eleven bridges, signalling, telecommunications and power systems. [1] [2]
ContextThe agreement provides financing rather than proof that construction has been completed. The project is intended to strengthen a Trans-European Network corridor and improve rail access between the Adriatic port, Serbia and the wider European network. [1] [2]
