Romania approved two public-institution energy programmes totalling €650 million on 8 September, according to reporting published by Balkan Green Energy News the following day. The EU Modernisation Fund-backed calls are due to open on 11 September. [1]

Of the total, €500 million is intended for solar installations with mandatory battery storage, while €150 million targets batteries at institutions that already generate renewable electricity. Support can cover the full project cost, subject to a €10 million ceiling per beneficiary. [1]

Applications are scheduled to run until 6 November or until funding is exhausted. Selected projects must be commissioned by the end of 2029; the funding approval is not evidence that installations are already operating. [1]
