A two-hour meeting between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Democratic Party of Kosovo leader Bedri Hamza ended without an agreement on 2 October. Hamza did not exclude further meetings. [1] [2]

Hamza said his party wants parliament to amend the law governing the Kosovo Specialist Chambers before choosing a president, while Kurti's Vetëvendosje prioritises the presidential vote. Hamza had indicated that PDK could support an agreed candidate if the amendments were adopted first. [1] [2]

ContextParliament faces a 6 October deadline to elect a president; failure would trigger another election. The inconclusive meeting leaves that risk unresolved rather than establishing that an early vote is certain. [1] [2]
